To make the smoke lighten the photo, try changing the blending mode of the layer with the smoke to SCREEN or LIGHTEN. Keep in mind that smoke isn’t always white. To choose smoke color, try sampling a light color from the original photo and painting with that color. If you paint too much, choose the Eraser Tool, right-click and choose the same PHLEARN Smoke & Fog Brush and erase away any areas you need. To use this brush, we suggest lowering your FLOW to around 30% and layering the smoke or fog in slowly. Once you are satisfied with the blur center, you can adjust the amount of blur.No need to go around setting things on fire, simply add smoke and fog in Photoshop using this custom brush. If you get the center wrong, simply undo your blur and re-do it again, this time moving the blur center. This filter does not give you a live preview, so you have to guess where the center of the zoom blur will be. Adjust the amount of zoom to 80 and choose a center point for the zoom blur by clicking on the ‘Blur Center’ graph. Go to ‘Filter – Blur – Radial Blur’ and choose ‘Zoom’ under ‘Blur Method’. In order to give this image a bit more life, we are going to add beams of light coming from the disco ball. If you find that the fog has too much detail, simply add a gaussian blur to the fog layer.
